Recently introduced, the all new Barclay Butera Outdoor Collection for Castelle is now making a statement in backyards and outdoor spaces nationwide. One such backyard designed for Newport Beach, California homeowners was dressed all in the Barclay Butera outdoor collection. The exterior design that includes dining and deep seating provides insight into how designers can use this collection to add sophistication, comfort and true style to outdoor spaces for Spring 2018.
Q What outdoor spaces were included in your design?
A. This beautiful home in a gated community in Newport Beach California features an outdoor back patio perfect for a big family. The patio is surrounded by greenery to give the homeowners privacy but the lush trees and bushes also add to the overall ambiance. The home also featured a welcoming front patio.
Q What was the clients desire for the project?
A. Our clients for this home had just moved from the east coast to the west coast, so there was no surprise that they looked no further than our beautiful beaches as inspiration for their design concept. When they walked into our Newport Beach showroom, they immediately said, “This is it!” Our blue and white signature color story complimented with neo traditional elements was the exact look they had in mind for their new home in Southern California. Our clients also love to entertain and it was important to provide seating for a big group.
Q. How did your plan address this?
A. Luckily, we didn’t need to search far, as we released a brand new outdoor furniture collection Spring of 2017 with industry leader, Castelle. The collection we introduced was the perfect blue and white outdoor setting that would bring their patio to life. Not to mention, our outdoor dining table and chairs, lounge table and chairs and chaises provided just the right amount of seating for this fun family.
Q. What was your inspiration for the design plan?
A. As with most of our projects here in Southern California, we are inspired by the casual yet sophisticated lifestyle of Newport Beach. It is also important for us to tie the design concepts of both the indoor and outdoor spaces, so we love to incorporate different hues of blue and white to keep a cohesive look.
Q. Was coordination with existing elements required?
A. One of my favorite parts of the back patio was the existing gazebo that worked well to define multiple spaces within the outdoor patio. Additional features include a pool, Jacuzzi and outdoor kitchen and bar, perfect for entertaining. For the most part, these features worked well with our design concept, however, we decided to paint the red brick white to give the space a fresh and bright feel.
Q. What would you say is the highlight of the project?
A. The highlight of this project was the instant connection to the client, as our design aesthetics couldn’t be more in sync. And getting to use product that we personally designed was the cherry on top!
Q. What trends are you seeing in outdoor living/decor?
A. I am seeing a lot of color being used, and expect to see more of that as we transition into Spring. As a product developer, I consider the need to provide variety. We offer our outdoor furnishings in 22 different metal colors. You’ll also find that my outdoor furniture has deeper seating and deeper cushions for comfort.
